DMIA CELEBRATES ITS 75th ANNIVERSARY

The Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association (DMIA) recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary as America's premier diamond industry association at a gala dinner-dance held at Cipriani's 55 Wall Street in New York City.   The dinner, which honored two legends of the diamond industry, William Goldberg and Jacques Roisen, was attended by hundreds of prominent members of the diamond industry from around the world.

DMIA PLAYS AN ACTIVE ROLE IN GIA'S DECISION TO ADD FLUORESCENCE INSERT IN GRADING REPORTS

For some time, the DMIA's Gemological Committee has been engaged in discussions with representatives of the GIA concerning the issue of diamond fluorescence and the need to provide consumers with a better understanding about the impact of fluorescence in a diamond.
The DMIA is pleased to report that as a result of these meetings, the GIA  has announced that effective immediately, any GIA Diamond Grading Report and Diamond Dossier® that carries a diamond fluorescence description with medium blue fluorescence or stronger will include a separate four color insert addressing the most frequently asked questions about fluorescence.  The new insert will explain the properties of  fluorescence in easy-to-understand terms and will include a comparison of diamond images in both natural and UV light to illustrate varying intensities of fluorescence. The members of  the DMIA's Gemological Committee believe this new insert will go a long way toward educating consumers and will help to overcome much of the uncertainty consumers tend to associate with fluorescence.
