Speaking for the Association, President Ronald J. Friedman expressed his appreciation to the owners and management of 580 Fifth Avenue for their ongoing commitment and support to the DMIA and to the diamond industry at large. The DMIA today also announced the results of its elections of officers and directors for the new term. The DMIA proudly reported the unanimous re-election of Ronald J. Friedman as President. Also unanimously elected were Ronnie Vanderlinden as Vice President and CFO, Fred Knobloch, Sheldon Kwiat, Rick Cohen and Jay Greenberg as Vice Presidents and Matthew Schamroth as Secretary. Elected to positions on the DMIA’s Board of Directors were Joseph Dresdner, Marvin Finker, Saul Goldberg, Manny Gross, Hertz Hasenfeld, Tom Heyman, Mickey Ishida, Daniel Kaleko, Philip Klein, Daniel Klugman, Isidore Kratka, Michelle Lieber, Ben Moller, Ronnie Morgenstein, Alan Rehs, Stuart Samuels, Dalia Schwalb and Steven Verstandig. The Association’s former Presidents include Leon Cohen, Jeffrey Fischer, Alan Kleinberg, Jacques Roisen, and Paul Bialo. In his acceptance speech, Friedman reported that during the past two years the DMIA had enjoyed a significant growth in membership. He noted that the DMIA is acknowledged as the leading organization of America’s premier diamond manufacturers, importers and dealers and that the Association plays a prominent leadership role on every significant issue affecting the American diamond Industry. Friedman also announced that on Saturday night, November 11, 2006, the DMIA will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a gala black tie dinner-dance to be held at the spectacular Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. He stated that the event will honor Jacques Roisen and the late William Goldberg. Friedman reported that that the event would be attended by members of the diamond industry from around the globe and he urged every member of the Association to attend. The Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association of America (DMIA), established in 1931, is the leading organization of America’s premier diamond manufacturers, importers and dealers. DMIA membership also includes companies servicing the diamond trade such as banks, shippers, insurers, and grading laboratories.
