Tips for Buying an Engagement Ring

Buying a diamond engagement ring is a huge step in the right direction that will ultimately lunge you forward into your very own happily ever after. Diamond engagement ring shopping is a momentous event to be celebrated. In order to find the perfect diamond in the rough, you will want to do your research on the 4 C’s of diamond buying. Cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. You will also have to see what you are willing to compromise on in order to stay within the realms of the budget you put in place. If you choose a stone with a lower clarity grade, meaning more visible imperfections, you do have the option of choosing a setting for the diamond that could help conceal this, thus saving a little money in the process.

You can find the perfect ring to represent who you are as a couple, while owning a small piece of history, wrapped in character and memories. Buying a diamond engagement ring is an extremely personal and intimate decision. It reflects your love in the form of a never ending ring of commitment and admiration.

Tips for Buying Diamond Earrings

Diamond earrings are not just a dazzling fashion accessory, they can also be considered an investment. Before buying diamond earrings, either for yourself or as a gift for someone else, you want to find an actual dollar amount that will fit nicely into your budget. From there you can narrow down your search results and find the right pair for an even better price.

Buying diamond earrings is a little different than buying a diamond engagement ring. People view the earrings at a further distance than they would upon examining an engagement ring. Therefore, the 4 C’s of diamond buying still apply. (Cut, color, clarity, and carat weight) The minor imperfections in a diamond earring set are less visible than the diamonds you will see in an engagement ring. Smaller diamonds would be a more appropriate choice for everyday casual wear, while larger diamonds can be used as the wow factor for special occasions or a night out.

Finally, you want to choose the right setting for your earrings. The setting simply refers to the metal base the diamonds are attached to. Once you get a good idea about exactly what it is you are looking for, you can find a jeweler that you can trust. Whether an investment or a gift, diamond earrings are a charming accent for every personality.

Tips for Buying Diamond Necklaces

Diamond necklaces are the perfect accessory for every occasion and also the perfect gift after a long trip away from home. With diamond necklaces you can add a splash of sparkle to an otherwise understated ensemble, or accent your personality with flair and classic taste. Diamond necklaces come in many different styles, from a simple pendant to a more elaborate setting. When buying a diamond necklace, you want to the diamond to be the focus, while finding the perfect chain to accompany it.

If you are buying a diamond necklace for someone as a gift, you want to keep their individual life and style in mind. Buying a simple, yet elegant, diamond pendant with a princess necklace length might be the best route, considering it can be worn more as an everyday and casual piece. Diamond necklaces can also exude multitudes of symbolism and expression. A simple diamond pendant with a three stone setting can be just as elaborately breathtaking and romantic as a solitaire diamond pendant. Hearts can be used to symbolize love and romance, a cross to symbolize and acknowledge your religious beliefs, or even a locket to serve as a constant memory of someone that remains close to your heart.

[sta_anchor id=”About”]About Reading, PA

[bs_row class=”row”]
[bs_col class=”col-sm-6″]

Reading is the fifth largest city in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania.  The city was originally laid out by Richard and Thomas Penn in the year 1743.  Reading sits at the intersection of the East Penn-Lebanon Valley and the Schuylkill River.  This city used to serve as a military base that ran along the Blue Mountains during the French and Indian War.

If you are looking for a romantic trip to celebrate new love or an anniversary then Reading, Pennsylvania is definitely a city to put on top of your list of must see cities.  The Pagoda, located on the top of Mount Penn, is an historical landmark that offers free admission.  They do, however, ask for a small one dollar donation.  The Pagoda is owned by the city and residents of Reading and is only open on Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of noon and five, weather permitting.  They have a quaint café and a gift shop available on site.

GoggleWorks Center for the Arts is a 145,000 square foot community arts center.  It used to be called the Willson Goggle Factory Building.  It has a 131 seat theater, a café, and a store that over two hundred artists from around the country use to celebrate and sell their eclectic artwork.  Free tours of the center are offered every Wednesday at 1:00 pm.

For a wonderful shopping experience you can visit Some Things Looming.  Here you will find the most contemporary design around.  It is owned by the mother and daughter pair, Rebekah Ritter and Melanie Ritter Mitchell.

Along with a city rich in art and culture, it is filled with romance and magic.  Reading is home to several quaint bed and breakfasts, quiet main streets, and beautiful outdoor settings.  Take a ride down the Mountain Bike Trails, visit Hawk Mountain and Pinnacle Summit, or spend the day fly fishing along the Schuylkill River or Blue Marsh Lake.  For a more complete outdoor experience and even more romantic setting, you can take a hot air balloon ride complete with champagne and amazing ambience or go camping under the stars.

If you are looking for a great shopping experience, the following should definitely be put on your list.

  1. Raphael B. Studio is a unique jewelry and repair shop with over twenty five years of experience.  They offer a variety of products and services that include unique and handmade jewelry, jewelry and watch repair, and a selection of engagement rings.  They can also repurpose heirlooms, they buy gold, and can do custom stone cutting.
  2. Curious on the Avenue is a good choice if you are looking for a boutique or specialty shop to find that perfect gift to take home. It is an extraordinary shop that offers an eclectic variety of different treasures.
  3. Fairgrounds Farmers Market is a good choice to take a leisurely stroll and find the best organic fruits and vegetables, crafts, and local charm.
  4. Secrets Bakery is a good stop to reward yourself with a special and delicious treat after a day of hiking and biking through Reading’s many scenic trails.

As you can see, there is something for everyone when visiting Reading, Pennsylvania.  It is the perfect destination for a fun and romantic trip complete with great food, amazing shopping, and rich culture and history.

[sta_anchor id=”learn”]A Simple Guide for Buying Diamonds and Jewelry

Before you go diamond shopping in Reading, you must know one important thing. Always buy certified diamonds. Be wary of non-certified diamonds.

Certified diamonds validate the 4 C’s of the diamond. A certificate of a diamond is much like the blueprint or the X-ray of the diamond. It shows the internal and external characteristics of it.

When you go out to buy a diamond, the sheer number of styles can easily overwhelm you. So a bit of homework can help familiarize you with the terminologies and help you in the process.

The Most Popular Diamond Shapes

The shape of the diamond can determine the amount of light it reflects. There are many shapes available today, but you don’t need to know your Asscher from your Cushions when choosing the diamond shapes for the engagement ring.

#1 Shape is Round

If it helps in your selection process, know that the Round shape is the classic shape which most celebs prefer (including the likes of Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde and Emmy Rossum).

#2 Shape is Princess

The Princess cut is the second most popular diamond shape after Round. Nicky Hilton is presumably a big fan of it.

#3 Shape is Emerald

The Emerald cut is a modern yet elegant shape worn by classy dames such as Amal Clooney and Beyonce.

If you are vintage lover, then you’d do very well with the Asscher cut preferred by celebs such as Elizabeth Taylor. The Cushion or Pillow cut was extremely popular a century ago but today, many celebs including Kim Kardashian, still flaunt it.

What is a Carat?

The Carat of a diamond is one of the 4 C’s that measure its value. The other 3 C’s are: cut, clarity and color.

The Carat is unit of measurement of the weight of a diamond. Simply put: 1 carat is equivalent to 200 milligrams or 100 points when evaluated on a standard point system. So on the basis of that, a 0.50 carat diamond is equivalent to 50 points while a 0.3 carat of 30 points and so on.

Do not confuse between Carat and Karat. The latter is the unit of measurement of purity of Gold. In fact, the word Carat comes from Carob, which is a seed. This seed was used in ancient times to measure diamond weight until technology brought balance and electric scales to measure it accurately.
